Programming of the Karelia cross-border cooperation Programme 2021-2027 launched

Submitted by Henna on

The Programming Committee of the next Karelia cross-border cooperation Programme met for the first time, obviously on line, on Tuesday 21st April, 2020. This was the starting point for preparing the programme for the years 2021-2027.

During the upcoming months the programming committee will decide on the strategy of the programme. In the strategy work the policy objectives proposed for the 2021-2027 programming will be compared to the regional needs, and the most relevant objectives from the regional point of view will be chosen. Different stakeholders will be involved in the strategy work through stakeholder events and hearings.

The goal is to submit the programme document to the European Commission in March, 2021 after the content has been agreed by Finland and Russian Federation. However, the COVID-19 situation may delay the timetable.

The Managing Authority of the Karelia CBC Programme, Council of Oulu Region, was given the mandate to launch and coordinate the programming process.
