Workshop "Second Life of a Plastic Bottle"
On the first day of November, the staff of the Institute of Economics of the Karelian Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, representatives of the «WasteLess Karelias» project, Anton Scherbak and Olga Potasheva, held a master class on the recycling of plastic bottles for students of the secondary school of the village of Naistenjärvi (Suoyarvi district, Republic of Karelia).
Participants in the master class, which was held as part of the traditional “Autumn Fair”, learned about useful and easy-to-make things that can be done by own hands from plastic bottles. Together with the children and their parents, in just one hour, we were able to produce several bunker bird feeders, as well as an ottoman for the school.
In total, more than 30 schoolchildren and their parents took part in the master class. At the end of the master class, the students expressed a desire to make similar ottomans and bird feeders themselves during the holidays, and the teachers supported this initiative.
We thank the school administration for the opportunity to hold this event and look forward to further cooperation.
