Teachers of the Karelian branch of the RANEPA visited the University of Eastern Finland in the cities of Joensuu and Kuopio.

May 23-24, 2019 - project experts Elena Ishutina, Kirill Nikulchenkov, Inna Rubina, Tatiana Sachuk and Olga Sizova visited the University of Eastern Finland in Joensuu to participate in the project team meeting. Colleagues from Finland and Russia discussed the content of the educational programme being developed and approaches to research the barriers and opportunities associated with international business and sales, as well as the competitive resources of the target areas that can be used for regional development.

Despite the different approaches to the organization of the educational process in Russia and Finland the project team members managed to identify the main modules of the educational program of the project, which will be organized in several consecutive stages:

Stage 1 - Basic course "Project Management and Strategic Planning".

Stage 2 - An in-depth study of cross-border cooperation.

Stage 3 - Educational trips to Finland: teamwork with participants from Joensuu and Oulu.

Russian and Finnish experts presented their proposals on topics and areas of research work within the framework of the project and agreed to exchange research results for the possibility of their further use by both Russian and Finnish participants in the course.

On September 15-17, 2019 teachers of the Karelian branch of the RANEPA visited the campus of the University of Eastern Finland in Kuopio. The purpose of the visit was to study the educational system of Finland, to get acquainted with the organization of the educational process at the Business School of the University of Eastern Finland, as well as to plan further work of the project team to conduct research and develop an educational program.

Finnish colleagues presented their vision of the content of the training program for project participants, shared the methodological support of the learning process at the Business School of the University of Eastern Finland. When organizing studies in Finland, high attention is paid to the students' meaningful and conscious attitude to the learning process, therefore discussions and interactive group work are important teaching methods.

Russian experts had the opportunity to see in practice the main teaching methods for conducting discussions and organizing interactive work of students in groups at a lecture.

The second day was entirely devoted to the features of the organization of online learning and inverted learning, the meaning of which is that students first master the topic, and then work with the teacher, getting necessary answers.

According to Sachuk Tatyana Viktorovna, the project expert, it was interesting to get acquainted with the organization of distance learning for academic disciplines.

The student assessment system turned out to be interesting, providing, on the one hand, the need for a student to set a certain number of points, and on the other hand, the student's ability to choose the forms of certification. So, for example, in one of the training courses out of 100 possible points, the student must score more than 60. At the same time, 30 points are a distance test and the student may consciously not do this type of work, hoping that for other types of work (group work and individual task) he will be able to score the required number of points. The student himself chooses the forms of work that will allow him to get more than 60 points at the rate.

It is interesting, according to Sachuk T.V., to get acquainted with the formalized criteria for evaluating student essays, which, if appropriate, could be used in the educational process of the Karelian branch of the RANEPA.
