Culture Open mapped the accessibility of the Joensuu Market Square Stage
In August 2019 Culture Open –project was requested by the Joensuu City Cultural Services to map the accessibility of the new Joensuu Market Square Stage. Subsequently, the accessibility mapping of the stage found significant shortcomings in the stage’s accessibility.
The purpose of the mapping was to determine how well the stage and the Market Square area respond to the needs of disabled performers and audience members. The mapping was carried out by the Culture Open Project Coordinator Henna Karhapää with the assistance of the Executive Manager of the City Centre Association Virta, Anne Vänskä.
The report detailing the results of the mapping, as well as suggestions on how to improve the accessibility of the Market Square Stage, was completed in September.
