Induction Loops Installed at Carelicum and Joensuu Main Library
On Tuesday 24 March induction loops were installed in Joensuu at the Carelicum information centre and the Main Library customer services point. Induction loop is an aid for the hard of hearing, which electronically amplifies voice to a hearing aid. These two induction loops were deemed necessary based on the recommendations of the Culture Open Accessibility Mapping Report, which determined that both Carelicum and the customer service point at the Main Library are very noisy and echoing spaces.
The induction loops were acquired by the Culture Open –project and the library’s Kynnyksetön kirjasto –accessibility project. The loops were provided by Qlu Oy and installed by Ari Törmä of Laatukuuluu Oy.
The presence of the induction loops will help people who are hard of hearing to better use the services provided by the Carelicum and the Main Library.
