Botanical research within SUPER project

In September 2020 Vera Timofeeva (Forest Research Institute, KarRC RAS) continued the survey of ruderal species in Vodlozersky NP. 
At the largest of the studied landfills (near the Kuganavolok village) the mass dispersal of invasive species – Impatiens glandulifera was found. 
Impatiens glandulifera native to the Western Himalayas was introduced to Europe as an ornamental plant in the first half of the XIX century.  It naturalized very quickly and began to actively settle acclimatizing the secondary habitats (roadsides, wastelands, landfills, etc.). Due to an aggressive survival strategy, Impatiens glandulifera often forms extensive single-species thickets and displace local floral species and penetrates natural and closest assemblages.
