"Peer Gynt. Three Novellas" was filmed in Ruskeala rocks
In the "Ruskeala" Mountain Park from 16 till 18 August filming of "Peer Gynt. Three novellas" took place.
Originally the performance was planned to be shown on the Russian and Finnish border territories. It was impossible due to the epidemiological situation and the project team, together with the director Kirill Sbitnev, developed a new concept to make a video version of the play. A film crew led by the leader of the Karelian Cinematographers Union Alexey Babenko joined the process.
Participants from Finland, together with the assistant director Tiia-Mari Mäkinen, worked on the Solveig line. The episodes filmed in Finland in early August were included in the general context of the performance.
For filming «Peer Gynt. Three novellas» performance in the Italian quarry of the Ruskeala Mountain Park, a mobile stage was installed, equipped with a special light and sound equipment, as well as a screen for showing a series about the Solveig life. Selected episodes were filmed in the unique park landscape. The marble overflows, the sky with lush clouds, the bright sun, slender pines have become a natural decoration.
Three days of hard work in the open air became an invaluable experience, and in some moments a real challenge for all process participants: actors, director, film and stage crew, sound and light specialists, props, project managers.
The final video will be presented to viewers in social networks and on the Youtube channel of the Theatre Crossroads project and the National Theatre of Karelia in September.
