Development and renovation on the Vartius border crossing point is being completed
The Kuhmo Vartius border crossing point development project, which started in 2019, is being completed. The project improved the capacity of rail transport and developed road transport conditions to meet current needs. The customs and border station building at the border crossing point was also renovated.
- Road and track contracts at the Vartius border crossing proceeded according to plan. The development project will make it easier to cross the border and increase control when the facilities of the infrastructure and border control stations are built up to date. Faster and more flexible border crossings serve all border traffic, says project manager Terhi Haapaniemi from the Finnish Maritime Agency.
