Teacher from Finland presented new kantele repertoire

On February 28, 2019 project manager Olga Vlasova had a meeting with kantele teacher Valentina Matveeva from the Mikkeli Music Institute. 

Valentina Matveeva had worked for over 25 years with the Karelian National Song and Dance Ensemble «Kantele» as a kantele performer. She is also the author of several music pieces for Karelian chromatic kantele. At present being a teacher at the Mikkeli Music Institute she continues to create kantele music for young players. 

At the meeting Valentina Matveeva presented her new music pieces for kantele and a manuscript of music exercises for chromatic kantele by her teacher Toivo Vainonen, a famous kantele performer and a founder of Karelian chromatic kantele playing style. The manuscript has never been published before and is going to be a real help to the KanteleGo! project.
