SUPER CBC NK

The key objective of the ongoing CBC SUPER project is to enhance environmental resilience of high value nature and culture heritage sites with high recreational load. The pilot sites are situated in Finland and Russia.

In North Karelia Biosphere Reserve (Finland), the aims were to draft a nature tourism plan and in addition develop toilet and waste solutions. Waste solutions included designing content for guiding visitor actions at Koli and Petkeljärvi national parks. During this spring and summer, within the framework of the project, new informative signs including instructions on waste sorting were installed.

The information boards improve the visibility of the sorting stations, and guides visitors on correct way of waste disposal. The info-boards also offer visitors a brief history of the area, gives information on parks’ hiking routes, and most importantly instructions on responsible hiking.
