Final meeting in Kuopio

A working meeting was held on results of the project KA1029 “Innovations, research and education for roads and transport as an engine for growing cross-border business cooperation” in Kuopio on 31st of October 2019.  The project is implementedin the framework of the Karelia Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2014-2020

Project manager Sergey Koshelev from Karelian regional institute of continuing professional education at Petrozavodsk State University and experts Artem Stepanov and Vladimir Markov from Petrozavodsk State University took part in the meeting from Russian side. Tommi Huttunen, Raimo Kaikkonen from Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment of North Savo (CEDTENS),Sari Ketonen from Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency (FTIA) and Markku Manninen from Savon Kuljetus participated in the meeting from Finnish side.

The project’s findings and outcomes as well as results of the research on the road network and mutual influence of the road network and the economy of the region are presented. Participants discussed also educational needs of the specialists in road sector and the possibilities of internships for Russian road workers at road enterprises in Finland, their subjects and content.The Finnish side agreed to organize study tours for Russian specialists and road sector managers.

Russian and Finnish project participants are satisfied with the project’s results and their fruitful work and are planning to continue their co-operation in road industry.
