Soiree in Utra

North Karelian Museum’s InterActive History project organized soiree in Utra on August 31.

The event was held in Utra old school building and it was organized in cooperation with Utra Residents Association and Rantakylä library. The soiree was part of regional North Karelia Day’s program. Theme of the soiree was Utra district’s history. Rantakylä library put together an old time library where library director Katri Pesonen played a role of librarian. Iiris Heino, intendant of North Karelian museum, gave a speech about Utra’s history and project coordinator Reetta-Mari Kellokoski performed folk music based on the tradition of Utra area. Artists Tuire Hindikka and Leena Käyhkö told stories and read poems from North Karelia area. Utra Resident’s Association offered coffee and waffles for the visitors. InterActive History project had an information point in the event and the Utra history theme was also visible in the decorations of the event. The evening’s program ended with dance accompanied by accordion player Tapani Drockila.

The Soiree in Utra gathered 130 visitors.
