Musicians from Karelia will take part in the Kantele Master Course in Kuhmo, Finland

On June 25, 2019 the Kantele-GO! project launches the Kantele Master course in Kuhmo aimed at increasing the quality of performing skills of  kantele players. The event will take place during the “Sommelo” festival and is arranged by the Runosong Academy and its director Pekka Huttu-Hiltunen, musician and teacher, coordinator of the Kantele-GO! project in Kuhmo.

There are 20 participants from the Republic of Karelia. They are kantele teachers from Petrozavdosk, Sheltozero, Pryazha, Olonets, Kostomuksha  and other places in Karelia, students of the Petrozavdosk State Glazunov Conservatoire, the “Kantele Ensemble” musicians.

The course will be mastered by experienced Finnish teachers and professional kantele performers Vilma Timonen from Sibelius Academy, the University of the Arts Helsinki, Eva Alkula from Tampere Conservatory and Hanna Ryynänen from Turku Conservatory. The Russian participants will also have a chance to attend all Sommelo festival concerts and a master class by Ida Elina, a famous Finnish kantele player, singer and song-writer.
